Perfectly Casual

March 31, 2014

Jeans: Loft. T-shirt: Old Navy. Chambray: J. Crew. Sunglasses: Rayban. Flats: Target.

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was spent at home, which is always fun. Mark and I had dinner with my family, we watched the NCAA tournament, went to the Macy's flower show (he's such a trooper), enjoyed Sunday's beautiful weather, watched House of Cards, and snuggled a lot. We said goodbye yesterday, which is never fun. Especially when we don't know when the next time we'll see each other. On the bright side, we're getting closer to being done with goodbyes!

What to Wear: To Feel Fabulous

March 26, 2014

Coat: ASOS. Jeans: Silver Jeans c/o (similar). Heels: Zara (similar). Clutch: Target (very similar). Sunglasses: Rayban

I wore this outfit to a Chris Botti concert last week that was. so. good.

Do you own an article of clothing that makes you feel absolutely fabulous? I hope you do. That's what I love about fashion, that the instant you put something on, your mood can change. For me, a red lip + faux leather pants + a leopard coat = me feeling fabulous. And that, dear reader, is what it's really all about.

Winter/Spring

March 24, 2014

Sweater: Zara. Jeans: Gap. Shoes: Old Navy. Purse: Topshop. Necklace: ILY Couture. Watch: Fossil. Sunglasses: Rayban

This sweater is perfect for Winter/Spring. What is that, you ask? Winter/Spring is when the calendar and the rest of the country says it's spring, but Minnesota says, "Hold on, we haven't had enough winter." This sweater is the perfect way to incorporate spring colors, while still being dressed appropriately for the winter temperatures.

This weekend was pretty low-key. I did some homework, packaged meals at FMSC, ran some errands, and oh yeah, Mark came home for Spring Break :)

14/20

March 23, 2014

For my 14th act of kindness I returned to package food at Feed My Starving Children. This is always a great way to feel like you're actually making an impact. Especially after you package food for only an hour, which turns out to feed 60-some kids for a year. Isn't that crazy? One hour of your time and 60 kids eat for a year.

I'm running out of original ways to do nice things! If you have any suggestions, please let me know :)

Juxtapose

March 20, 2014

Sweater: Forever 21(similar). Vest: Nordstrom Rack (similar). Scarf: Handmade by my sister (similar). Jeans: Gap. Booties: Nordstrom Rack (similar). Purse: Topshop (old). Watch: Fossil. Earrings: Target (similar).

I don't normally go for the girly + edgy look, but I'm loving the juxtaposition of the leather vest with the softness of the blush sweater, and the cozy scarf. I wore this outfit to the Mall of America yesterday where I scored some goodies.

On a different note, I'm finally on Spring Break! After working for the first half of the week, it feels so good to just relax and not have to wake up for anything. This week I'm focusing on getting some work outs in, reading, and having some mother-daughter time. Speaking of which, my mom and I have a special day planned that includes massages and a jazz concert tonight!

Hope you're having a good week!

Spring Break Essentials

March 19, 2014

My social media is blowing up with pictures from various tropical vacations. I however, remained in Minnesota to work on a project with a looming deadline. All of the tropical photos have me dreaming of sandy beaches, and of the things I would wear of course :) So I put together a little roundup of some SB essentials.

A panama hat to protect your face from the sun. (Less expensive version)
A cute suit to lounge at the pool/on the beach in.
A simple coverup.
A leather sandal to slip.
An adorable two-tone, canvas beach bag for your sunscreen, kindle etc.

Fabulous Finds

March 14, 2014

1. This fluted style skirt from J. Crew is so flattering. Love the summery chartreuse too.
2. Love these leopard sandals from Nordstrom
3. I'm not normally drawn to distressed denim, but I'm really loving these Rag and Bone cutoffs.
4. I just bought these Steve Madden wedges, I can't wait until it's warm enough to wear them!
5. I love the idea of a white blazer for spring. It's so crisp and clean. This one from J. Crew fits the bill.

We made it through the week! This was my "hell week" and am so happy to have it behind me. I'm looking forward to the week off ahead of me. Have a happy, and much-deserved weekend!

What to Wear: To the Airport

March 12, 2014

Shoes: Old Navy. Jeans: Loft. Sweater: Forever 21 (similar). Necklace: ILY Couture. Watch: Fossil. Tote: Phillip Lim for Target (similar).

This outfit is perfect for a day of travel:
-Flats, for easy removal at security.
-Comfy, slouchy jeans for sitting most of the day.
-Loose, cozy sweater.
-Necklace is optional (I have gotten stopped at security because of it, but he also complemented me on it!)
-Tote to carry magazines, laptop, socks and scarf (for the chilly plane), kindle etc.

A note about these jeans. I. am. obsessed. I had been wanting to try boyfriend jeans for a while, but I hated them every time I tried them on. I mean, I know they have "boy" in the name, but I felt so boxy and masculine! So I had resigned myself to the fact that I liked them on other people, but not on myself. Then, on a whim, I tried on these non-boyfriend, but kind-of-similar jeans at Loft and fell in love. I like that they're comfortable and casual, but that I don't have to sacrifice my femininity. They're fitted in the thigh (and butt), and have just the perfect bit of slouch in the lower half. Wow, that was a lot--have a happy Wednesday!

Bedroom

March 11, 2014

I mentioned in this post that my bedroom at home is being redone. It's been fun to pick out new bedding and decorations, so I thought I'd share some of the pretty little things I've found!

Duvet cover. Sheets. Striped pillow covers. Sequin pillow cover. Lamp. Necklace. Big Ben jewelry tray. Watch. Necklace. Paris Street Style book. Mason Jar, Titanic coffee table book, and flowers from Goodwill.

I decided I wanted it to be as girly as possible, because eventually I'll have to decorate a house/apartment when I'm married and that won't be an option then. So I'm living it up with pink and sparkles! I also wanted it to be very me, so there's fashion, Harry Potter, and the Titanic all mixed in.

Camo

March 10, 2014

Shoes: Old Navy. Jeans: Gap. Sweater: Old Navy. Jacket: Old Navy. Necklace: Baublebar. Purse: Topshop (old).

This is one of those outfits that I just love. I posted last summer about how I had surprised myself and started really liking camo, but it took me this long to pull the trigger and actually buy something camouflage!

Hope you have a great week!

Thanks for taking these pictures mom!

13/20

March 8, 2014

(dress I donated)

For my thirteenth random act of kindness I decided to donate my senior prom dress to Ever After Gowns. I knew I for sure wanted to keep my junior prom dress, but I decided that I would rather let someone else have fun in my senior dress.

Now I'm just having fun sharing old prom pictures, so here's a few pictures from junior year:

(dress I'm keeping)

And yes, I had the same date to every high school dance :)
