Who Says?

August 12, 2015

Top: Banana Republic (similar). Skirt: J. Crew (similar). Shoes: Kohl's. Clutch: Target (similar). Necklace: Loft Outlet (similar).

Pink and purple aren't colors that I would typically think to pair together, unless I was decorating an 11 year old's bedroom exclusively with products from Claire's (I totally was that girl btw). But, anyways, who says you can't pair pink and purple together? Sometimes you just have to embrace your inner 11 year old and run with it. I think the reason that these colors work together in this outfit is because they're understated hues. I've been doing a lot of closet remixing, and one great way to feel like your wardrobe is fresh is to pair unexpected colors together.

I'm signing off on the blog for the week because we're headed to South Bend, Indiana for Mark's sister's wedding! As always, you can follow along on Insta and snap (@myinnerfabulous)!

Have a great rest of your week!

Dressing it Up

August 10, 2015

Dress: Tahiri. Shoes: Zara (similar). Blazer: Nine West (similar). Purse: Topshop (similar). Necklace: J. Crew (similar).

I bought this dress back in April for a presentation and have since worn it for a few other professional events. A black shift dress is one of those things that is very versatile and that you can accessorize for for a ton of different things. Highly recommend!

How was your weekend? Mine was very low key: lots of movies and reading, and just generally recharging after two weekends of visitors. Now we're gearing up for a trip to Indiana on Thursday for a wedding!

Life Lately

August 5, 2015

Life has been kind of a whirlwind the last few weeks (in the best way)! One of my closest friends visited two weekends ago, and then my sister visited last weekend. It was so wonderful to have two of my favorite people visit in such quick succession - it definitely made time fly by! While they were visiting we did a lot of fun things that I wanted to share here. First up, Malorie's visit:

We grabbed gourmet brats (!!!) at Rosamunde and then went to Alamo Square to check out the Painted Ladies.

Had pretty and delicious cocktails at A16.

Saw pretty views of the GG Bridge from the beach.

We had the most amazing ice cream at Smitten to end our night in SF. I am not kidding: best ice cream I've ever had. It's so fun because you can see them freeze it in front of you with liquid nitrogen!

As you can see, we basically ate our way through Northern California. Ellen's trip wasn't much different:

We explored Santa Cruz and the Twin Lakes beach.

Climbed giant hills for beautiful views.

Took Mark's new selfie stick out for a spin. He would like you all to know that he did not buy it, but that he got it for free at work ;)

The best thing that we did when Ellen was visiting was biking across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. The views were breathtaking, not to mention that it was the most beautiful day I have ever spent in SF!

Then we had dinner at Barrel House in Sausalito where you sit at a bar that is literally over the water!

I'm so happy to have such amazing people that come to visit! It was fun to show them around our new home. Now life is back to normal, until next weekend when we leave for Mark's sister's wedding. All sorts of fun stuff going on right now!

Drugstore Beauty Favorites

August 3, 2015

I don't post about beauty products normally on the blog because it's not something that I'm very passionate about or ever really got into, but if it's something you would like to see more of, let me know! Over the years I've tried a lot of drug store products, so I wanted to share some of my tried and true beauty faves. I have been using all of these products for at least a year.

Johnson's Baby Powder. You may be wondering why this is on my list, because it is not in fact a beauty product. I actually use baby powder as dry shampoo and it works wonders. You can get a huge bottle for so cheap! I will say that this only works for lighter colored hair.

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede lipstick. This lipstick is hands down the best drugstore lipstick money can buy. I even like it better than MAC. You have to try it! It stays on all day through eating and drinking. It will start to fade a little, but ends up looking like a nice lip stain instead.

St Ives Oatmeal and Shea Butter lotion. I've been using this for years and it's the best. I love the smell and it keeps my skin lovely and soft.

Herbal Essence Hello Hydration conditioner. I pretty much love all Herbal Essence products because of the smell alone. I've tried a lot of different scents, but I keep coming back to Hello Hydration. I love the coconutty smell! Weirdly, I get tons of complements on it.

Conair 1" curling iron. I'm not quite sure why people insist on spending hundreds of dollars on curling irons, when Conair from Target works perfectly fine. This one is only $10. I've been using Conair curling irons for years. They do stop working after a couple of years, but that's to be expected.

CeraVe face wash. This stuff is amazing. It takes all of my makeup off without having to use makeup remover (except lipstick). It's really gentle, which is great for my sensitive skin. It is a little bit of a splurge as far as drugstore products go, but it looks like I'll have to start buying it on Amazon instead!

CeraVe moisturizer. I also use their moisturizer and it's nice and light, while still keeping my skin hydrated.

Tresemme hairspray. I've tried a lot of hairsprays over the years and this one is the perfect balance of holding a curl while not making hair crunchy.

Neutrogena Clear Face sunscreen. I can vouch for this product and that it doesn't make me break out! I burn very easily and have become way more conscious about sun safety over the years, so sunscreen is a big part of my everyday life.

What drugstore products do you swear by?
