Color Craze
April 30, 2014
Sweater: J. Crew Factory (similar). Skirt: J. Crew. Heels: JCP. Clutch: Anthropologie (similar). Sunglasses: Rayban. Necklace: ILY Couture.
Lately I've been loving color in my wardrobe. After months of planning my outfit around boots, it is was so fun to put together this undeniably spring-like outfit. The weather isn't cooperating right now, but hopefully we'll be back to sunshine, and neons in no time!
Can you believe it's the last day of April?!

Save the Date!

Casual Chic
April 28, 2014
I love this outfit for two reasons: 1. It's super comfortable, and 2. It's the perfect mix of casual and dressed up. I paired the slouchy top and the boyfriend jeans with wedges to keep it from looking frumpy. This outfit would be perfect for going out to dinner with friends or on a casual date.
In other news, this weekend was my school's Spring Jam. The headliner was Mac Miller and he was actually pretty boring. I'm not really into rap though #sorrynotsorry. Other than the less-than-exciting concert it was a really good weekend. There was lots of time spent with friends, and I was quite productive! We even had a few nice days where I was able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, but now we're in for a very rainy week. Can't complain though, it's not snow!

Flora
April 23, 2014
Sweater: Zara (similar). Trousers: Target (similar, similar). Necklace: ILY Couture. Purse: Coach (similar). Shoes: Old Navy.
These pants are just plain fun. I wore these when I was interning in London last summer, and my coworkers asked me where they were from. I then proceeded to tell them that they were from Target, which was met with blank stares. So then I had to explain what Target is, which isn't easy. It was very difficult to get across the magnificence of Target, and I don't think I did it justice. They don't have anything like it in the UK. I don't think I could live somewhere that didn't have a Target. #addicted

Five Spring/Summer Must Haves
April 22, 2014
Now that spring is finally (pleasepleaseplease) here for good, I thought I would put together a list of my must haves for the coming season. Every girl should have these basics ready to grab for the warmer months. There's options for every budget!
1. A great wedge, that goes with everything, is essential for spring/summer months. They can easily be dressed up, or down, and they're so easy to walk in! (#holla) I would go with something in the tan/beige/brown family so that you can get maximum wear. (steal // save // splurge)
2. A cute sunhat. Let's be sun-savvy this summer ladies. These hats are all cute and practical! (steal // save // splurge)
3. A striped sundress, stripes = versatile. The perfect sundress can be worn a million different ways: with a patterned belt, with a leather/combat vest, over a swimsuit, under a blazer, etc. (steal // save // splurge)
4. Every girl needs a comfortable, simple sandal that can be worn with everything. Since sandal-season comes and goes all-too-quickly in Minneapolis I don't like to buy too many pairs. I like to buy one pair that can be worn with everything from denim cutoffs to maxi dresses. Look no further for inspo: (steal // save // splurge)
5. A great carry-all tote. Is it just me, or do we have more stuff to lug around during the summer? I feel like I'm always reaching for a tote to throw an extra pair of flip-flops, sunscreen, and a light jacket in. (steal // save // splurge)
What are your spring/summer essentials?

Sunday Best
April 21, 2014
Skirt: J. Crew. Shirt: J. Crew. Wedges: Steve Madden. Belt: Target. Necklace: J. Crew Factory (similar). Sunglasses: Ray Ban. Purse: Coach (similar).
This was my Easter outfit from yesterday, thank god it was warm enough to wear it! My family keeps it pretty low-key for Easter: church and brunch. I basically love any reason to get dressed up and eat breakfast food, so it was a lovely day :) it doesn't hurt that it was absolutely beautiful in the cities yesterday. Hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend!

16/20
April 20, 2014
For number 16/20 I volunteered at The ALS Association's Night of Remembrance. It was a service for people who have lost loved ones to come together, share stories, and remember those they have lost. It was really beautiful and emotional. I'm glad that I was able to be a part of it, and help people grieve.

Currently
April 17, 2014
Today I'm sharing a few things on my radar as of late. I'm currently...
...listening to Ariana Grande. I tweeted about how I'm #slightlyashamed of this, but I'll own it. I was watching a video of JT (#lovehim) perform at the white house, so I stumbled onto a video of her performing there as well. I was quite impressed with her, she sang a Whitney Houston song. Anywho, it's been like three days since then...and I'm still listening. (My favorite song of hers here)
...obsessing over Prince George's adorableness. I'm not one to freak out over babies, but my god is this kid cute.
...coveting these Steve Madden sneakers. I was skeptical of the whole sneaker trend for a while, but now I'm thinking that I want to give these babies a try #hellotaxreturn.
...reading Serena by Ron Rash. So far this book is so good and I'm not even halfway through.
Also, I know I'm a little late to the party, but I just finished House of Cards. OMG. That's really all I can say, but wow this show is good.
Is there anything you're currently loving/obsessing over?

Casual Rainy Day
April 14, 2014
Jacket: J. Crew. Coat: Old Navy. Striped T: Zara (similar). Jeans: Gap. Boots: Hunter. Necklace: ILY Couture. Purse: Coach.
The weather this weekend felt like fall, so I think that played a part in choosing this outfit. It feels much more "fall" than "spring." Either way I kind of love this outfit. It's perfectly casual, and so easy.

15/20
April 13, 2014
The other day I put together this flower arrangement in a spare mason jar and dropped it off on a neighbors porch with a note wishing them well. I hope they brightened their day! I'm still on schedule to make it to 20 by June 15th, but I could use some inspiration. So if you have any ideas, let me know!

How Clothing Can Solve Your Problems
April 8, 2014
image via
Last week I talked about the power of fashion, and why I love it. Today I'm expanding on that with a few simple tricks.
Sick? Dress up. I know that all you want to do when you feel like crap is binge-watch One Tree Hill, wear your boyfriend's old gym shirt, and wallow in self-pity. However, I am a firm believer in faking it until you make it. If I look put together, I automatically feel 10x more put together. Statement jewelry is a cold's worst nightmare.
Feeling overwhelmed? For me, a messy apartment means distraction and little motivation. I can't get work done, until I have space (here's looking at you last week's outfit still draped over my desk chair). When my closet won't shut, and I'm storing purses within purses to save space (#guilty), I know it's time to say goodbye to some clutter. I know it's hard (yes, I do need 31 cardigans and 11 striped t-shirts), but it's so rejuvenating.
In a slump? Revamp your wardrobe. Now I know what you're thinking, sounds like an excuse to online shop, amiright? In all seriousness, a new wardrobe, or more realistically a few new pieces, can work wonders for your soul mojo. Just like in junior high how back to school shopping made the end of summer bearable, a new wardrobe can get you pumped up and motivated to get sh*t done.

*I hope you all know that I do not actually think that clothes can solve all of my problems (just 96% of them #retailtherapy).
Purple Trench
April 7, 2014
Trench: Jones New York (old, similar here). Jeans: Gap. Flats: Old Navy. Purse: Topshop (old). Sunglasses: Rayban. Scarf: from a market in Italy (similar).
My mom is the best gift-giver. She gave me this coat for Christmas a few years ago, and it has become a spring staple ever since. Color is such a fun way to jazz up a classic trench.
This weekend was a blast. My friend Sarah and I drove to Madison, WI to visit our friend Malorie. We ate a lot of food, did some catching up, and enjoyed the sunshine (!!!).
