Best of 2015

December 30, 2015

I love putting these posts together and reliving my favorite (and not so favorite) outfits from the year. More good than bad, thankfully! I've linked to all of the original posts so feel free to peruse!

2015 was a huge year for me. There were a lot of changes: graduating college, moving to California, and starting my first job. Challenges were plentiful, but I think was forced to adapt and grow more than I ever have before, so I'm grateful for that. I love this little blog because I can look back and see what I was thinking about in January, or even November of 2012 ;) I don't know if any other year can top this one, but I say bring it on 2016!

You can take a peek at the Best of 2014 here if you'd like!

Thank you so so much for following along and all of the love and support! See you next year :)

Snowy Cape

December 28, 2015

Cape: Ann Taylor (similar). Turtleneck: Ann Taylor. Skirt: Banana Republic (similar). Booties: Calvin Klein. Clutch: Forever 21. Necklace: J. Crew Factory (similar). Sunglasses: Rayban. Earrings: Kate Spade

Hi! How was your holiday break? It was a such a jam-packed weekend for me. I celebrated with all of the family, both mine and Mark's. Definitely ate way too much, but that's the whole point, right? I got a lot of reading in, which I love. Over the weekend I saw both Joy and Sisters. Joy was pretty good, but I wouldn't rave about it. However, I went to Sisters with my sister ;) and we both really liked it, so I would recommend!

This week I'll be working, but also seeing lots of friends from high school and college, so I can't wait to catch up with everyone! NYE plans are still up in the air, but whatever I end up doing I'm sure it will be pretty low-key.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

NYE Polka Dots

December 23, 2015

Dress: Anthropologie. Belt: Target. Earrings: Odette and Ophelia c/o. Shoes: borrowed from my mom (similar). Purse: Forever 21

I am so in love with this dress from Anthropologie. I always lust after their dresses, but it's rare that I find one in my price range. Luckily this little number was on sale for Black Friday and I snatched her up! I wore this outfit to the Colors of Christmas concert in San Francisco last weekend and I plan on wearing it for New Year's Eve. It's actually my only LBD. I know, right. I have one other black dress, but it's very businsess-y, so I don't count that one. When it comes to neutrals I always gravitate towards grey instead of black, so I don't have a ton of it. I'm really loving how much of a blank slate it is though. Can't wait to try styling this dress different ways!

I'll be taking the rest of the week off for the holidays so I hope you have an amazing time with friends and family whatever you're doing!

Cabin Chic

December 21, 2015

Sweater: Gap (similar). T-shirt: J. Crew Factory. Jeans: Gap. Purse: Tory Burch. Booties: Sole Society (similar). Necklace: J. Crew Factory (similar).

Please ignore how painfully pale I look in these pictures, the camera settings weren't quite right, but I still wanted to share! This outfit is what I would call "cabin chic" which may sound like an oxymoron but I think the casual stripes and fair isle balance out the heeled booties and tortoise shell necklace nicely. I could see myself wearing this when we go to Tahoe in a month!

We just got in to Minnesota yesterday and launched immediately into one of my family's celebrations a few hours after landing. It was a whirlwind, but I love catching up with everyone and can't wait for the festivities to continue over the next few days!

Hope your week gets off to a great start!

Life Lately

December 18, 2015

What a week, you guys! I spent last weekend and into Tuesday up in SF with my mom so I was so off on my days all week. Then the rest of the week just inched by because I'm so antsy to get home for the Holidays! I was a little MIA all week here and on social because it was such a weird week, but I wanted to pop in and share some pictures from our fun weekend in the city.

We tried Mr. Holmes Bakehouse, and I have to say: not worth the hype. Very instagrammable, but my cruffin wasn't anything to write home about.

On Sunday Mark came up for the day and we headed over to Alcatraz. Mark and I had never been and my mom hadn't been in 25+ years so it was fun for all of us to see the iconic San Francisco landmark. Definitely a cool experience, and the self-guided tour is really well done. Now I want to watch all of the movies about Alcatraz! The views of the city are amazing from the island too and made for some great photo ops ;)

The whole reason for my mom visiting was to go to the Colors of Christmas concert on Monday. It was so fun to share that experience with her, and the symphony hall was decorated so beautifully for Christmas! I also got to debut this pretty dress from Anthro, which will be on the blog next week!

I am SO happy that this week is over. Mark and I head home on Sunday for two whole weeks and I cannot wait. We'll both be working from home half of the time, so not exactly two weeks of vacation, but I'm still looking forward to lots of time with family, good food, sleeping in, and hopefully snow!

Emerald and Powder Blue

December 11, 2015

Shoes: Chooka c/o. Coat: Zara (similar). Purse: Tory Burch. Sweater: Loft. Scarf: H&M. Jeans: J. Crew

I have seriously been getting so much wear out of these Chooka rain flats. I don't even save them for days when it's raining. What I love most about them is that they can be worn in so many different ways and for so many different occasions, and you'll always be prepared for whatever weather comes your way.

Phew, it's Friday! Thank goodness, am I right? ;) This week was a long one for some reason, so I'm welcoming in the weekend with open arms. We're laying low tonight, but then my mom gets here tomorrow for the weekend. She's coming for a concert on Monday and decided to make a weekend out of it. We'll be staying up in San Francisco all weekend, which I'm super excited about. I haven't spent as much time in the city as I'd like because getting there is kind of a hassle, so it'll be nice to have a whole weekend to explore SF. Whatever you're doing I hope it's amazing!
