Just popping in today to share a bit more about my long weekend in Scottsdale, AZ. I met my mom and sister there on Wednesday night and we spent the next four days doing a lot of lounging and exploring. The reason we picked Arizona was because we wanted to go somewhere warm and a place that we hadn't been before.
It was really fun to see such a different part of the country. I'd never been to the Southwest, so it felt like a different planet to me with all of the cacti and dirt. It's beautiful in a different way than what I'm used to.
We stayed at the Hilton Scottsdale in the villas, which were huge! There were two pools on the property, and we spent every afternoon laying (in the shade) and reading.
My mom and sister had decided that they wanted to go for a hike on this trip, and I had decided that I did not want to go on a hike. I'm not the most outdoorsy of girls, and just wanted to do nothing the whole vacation. Well, I'm glad they convinced me to go with them to Pinnacle Peak though, because it was beautiful! I always love seeing cities from up high, and this was a cool way to do that.
I seriously cannot get over the cacti! This is like the most cactus-y of any I saw. It could basically be an emoji ;)
I enjoyed all of the fruity drinks poolside. The drinks were great, but Scottsdale isn't exactly a foodie city. I wasn't all that impressed by the food scene, but that's not why you go there, you go there to enjoy the sunshine! I will say that Isabella's, where we had dinner on Saturday, was a really cool restaurant. It's on a golf course with a really big patio and twinkly lights.
Also on Saturday we played mini golf and got ice cream at Sweet Republic. I was pretty much the perfect day.
Some other things we did, but that I didn't get pictures of, was visiting Old Town Scottsdale and 5th Avenue (these were both pretty touristy and I would skip), and getting pampered at the spa with massages (which I would definitely recommend!).
It was such a nice break after a stressful week at work and I'm sad I don't have any other vacations planned in the near future! Must get on that ;)
You may also be wondering what the deal was with me taking a trip two days after we moved into our new apartment. There was some poor planning that resulted in this unfortunate time-frame, but I have to give a shoutout to Mark who did the bulk of moving things while I was gone! Love him.
Have you been to Scottsdale or Arizona? Would love to hear about your experience!
