How to Prepare the Perfect Wine and Cheese Night
August 10, 2016
I had a girlfriend over on Saturday and decided to put together a little wine and cheese spread because that's my favorite kind of dinner and Mark doesn't think it counts as dinner so I have to do it when he's gone! Anyway as I was laying it out I spontaneously decided to snap some pictures for a blog post. I think it still looks pretty nice but if I'd planned on taking pictures I would have picked a cuter knife for the cheese and actually remembered to put out the wine for pictures ;) Here are my tips for creating the perfect spread:
1. Have at least two different meats and cheeses so there's something for everyone. I like to go with a spreadable cheese like brie or goat, and a hard cheese like an aged cheddar. And for meat I pretty much always go with salami, and for a second I think prosciutto, or some kind of ham, is a good choice.
2. Fruit! I think that any fruit goes well with cheese, but berries are especially delish.
3. Grab a fresh baguette. I cut mine up and popped it into the oven so we had freshly toasted baguette and it was nothing short of amazing. I also had crackers so you could pick your carb poison.
4. Veggies too! I feel like veggies are excluded from cheese platters a lot, but I think that some veggies and hummus are essential and then you can feel a little less guilty about all the cheese and bread you consume :)
5. And finally finish with chocolate. I'm a chocolate fiend and don't think it counts as dessert if there's no chocolate, so this had to be included in my list! I had some brownies from the day before that I added to the spread because wine and cheese need to be rounded out with the magic that is chocolate. It's just a fact.
What are your favorite items to include in a wine and cheese spread?

Another Elephant
August 8, 2016
Sweatshirt: J. Crew Factory. Jeans: J. Crew. Sneakers: Sam Edelman (similar). Sunglasses: Target (similar). Purse: Tory Burch (similar).
You better believe that this is going to be my go-to casual Friday outfit of choice from here on out! Google is very casual but I still would reserve sweatshirts and sneakers for Fridays. Isn't this elephant sweatshirt adorable? Apparently I have a thing for them (see here and here) and my collection keeps growing!
This outfit was perfect for a casual day of lounging at home watching the Olympics and running errands yesterday. I love the Olympics so we watched a ton of that and I had a friend over for a fun girls night on Saturday. I don't get to entertain very often so I went a little overboard with the spread I prepared. I spontaneously took some pictures of it too that I'll be sharing on Wednesday when I do a post on how to put together the perfect wine and cheese night. So be sure to stop by!

Neutral Neutrals
August 5, 2016
Sweater: Nordstrom. Jeans: J. Crew. Top: Loft (similar). Purse: Tory Burch (similar). Shoes: Banana Republic (similar). Necklace: J. Crew Factory (similar).
Be warned that you're going to see a smattering of fall outfits form here on out because I am so ready for the next season! Despite the California weather (and lack of leaf changing) I'm pulling out fall favorites, including this cozy sweater from the #nsale. It's so soft and relatively cheap! When it comes to cooler dressing I reach for the neutrals + a few darker go-to colors, but I'm loving this all neutral look. It's timeless!
How's your weekend looking? I don't really have plans besides hanging out with a girlfriend and running some errands. My favorite weekends are low-key ones though, so I'm looking forward to it! Hopefully whatever you're doing its fabulous!

All of the Blue
August 3, 2016
Skirt: J. Crew. Top: Topshop. Jacket: Zara (similar). Shoes: BC Footwear (similar). Purse: Tory Burch (similar). Earrings: Target (similar). Sunglasses: Ray-Ban.
This styling isn't drastically different from the way I styled this gingham skirt the first time, but I just can't help myself piling on all of the blue and white when I wear it. I've been loving all of the blue and white lately both in my home decorating process and in the outfits I reach for day after day. It's just so fresh! I can't wait to pull out this outfit for a summer date night! I pretty much always have to bring a jacket with me if I'm going to be out at night here because it drops down into the 50's once the sun goes down. Not what I was expecting in California!
How's your week going so far? I'm glad we're halfway to the weekend. Last week at work was super stressful so I'm counting my blessings that things are calmer this week.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
