Core 10 Favorites

March 22, 2020

core-10-review
I wanted to pop in today to share some of my favorite pieces from Amazon's athletic brand Core 10. I've talked about Core 10 on here and Instagram before but wanted to put everything in one place. This is especially timely because, like many of you, I am working from home for the foreseeable future and so that means lots of cozy clothes. I already had several things from them but ordered a few new things to up my #quarantinecozies game. I also have a few cute sweatsuits on the way from the Nordstrom sale which I'm excited about!

Working from home, and just being at home all the time for that matter, has definitely been an adjustment. I miss my coworkers and actually miss getting dressed every day, but not enough to do my hair and makeup most days. Ha! I've just been trying to really focus on taking care of myself. I've been walking the dog daily, keeping up with my regular exercise routine, meditating, puzzling and have a therapy session on Tuesday which should be helpful. Anyway, let's get to it!

I just got both of these this week and have been wearing them nonstop. There are joggers that technically go with this sweatshirt that I ordered too but I liked these ones better. They're a little sporty but very comfortable. The best thing though is this sweatshirt. It's described as "cloud soft" and it could not be more accurate. It's sooo soft and has a little stretch which is nice. Highly recommend!

I've had these joggers for months and they're the best. I've got several people buy them and everyone loves them. They're ultra-soft and hold up really well after lots of washing. I have them in two colors.

I got both of these for tennis because I didn't have any athletic wear that was in good enough shape to be seen in public. I have these leggings in two colors and love them. They have pockets, are nice and thick and come up high on my waist. This quarter zip is really nice for working out too. It's lightweight and has thumb holes.

I haven't had a bad experience with Core 10 yet. I've really liked everything that I bought from them and they're all at a good price point.

Stay safe and stay sane friends!

What I Wore to Work For a Month Part 3

February 3, 2020

I'm back with a third installment of What I Wore to Work for a Month! These posts are definitely a labor of love but they're always really popular. I understand why as I love getting a peek into people's everyday lives too! I've said it before but I'll say it again, I work at a very casual advertising agency so my outfits will reflect that. I do like to get a little bit dressed up but you'll see a good amount of sneakers too :) If you want to see previous versions you can find part one here and part two here. So without further ado, here is what I wore to work for a month!

What I Wore to Work For a Month Part 2

July 22, 2019

I'm back with a summer version of What I Wore to Work For a Month! If you missed it, I first captured my monthly work looks back in January and February so I wanted to do a summer version as well so you could see how I dress for the hotter months at work. Like I mentioned last time, I work at a very casual advertising agency but I do like to look put together since I interact with clients on a regular basis.

Middle: Similar blush ruffle skirt. Couldn't find a similar crop top but this floral top would pair really nicely with a blush skirt! Kelly & Katie nude sandal. Similar gold circle earrings.

As you can see I definitely have about three pairs of shoes that I wear on repeat and I was just starting to explore the headband trend last month. This was the first month that it was warm so I had fun putting together summer outfits for the first time in months and documenting them. It's actually so helpful to be able to go back and see what you wore and to get ideas for how you've styled things before. I find having photos to be really helpful and inspiring. Whenever I buy something new I like to try it on several different ways and take pictures so I can see what looks best. Anyway, hope you enjoyed this peak into my work outfits!

What I Wore to Work for a Month

February 19, 2019

I'm so excited to introduce today's post because I've been preparing it for over a month! I kept feeling guilty that I wasn't shooting outfits for the blog but in the winter I tend to feel less inspired and am rarely in the mood to stand outside in 20 degree weather for photos😇Enter the mirror selfie. I documented what I wore to work every day for four weeks in the hopes of inspiring myself to get a bit more creative with my outfits this month. Along the way I learned that I basically only ever wear my hair down, I love my cognac booties, and that I gravitate towards a lot of red, black and camel in the winter months.

 A few things to note:
1. To be totally transparent, I did rewear a few things to show that I do rewear my clothes, but because I was taking photos every day I definitely repeated less than I would have normally.
2. It was dark most mornings/nights when I was taking photos so please excuse the poor overhead lighting.
3. On the days I was wearing flats, don't fret, I wore boots into the office and swapped shoes inside😊
4. I work at a very casual advertising agency so you'll notice that my outfits are pretty laid back.

Anywho, I hope you enjoy this little peak into my daily life!what-i-wore-to-work-for-a-month

I really enjoyed putting this together so I hope you liked it too. January is kind of the worst because it was freezing and I was already sick of my winter clothes so this was a great way to force me to mix it up and not reach for the same four sweaters all the time. I plan to do another version of this in the spring or summer to inspire myself to get creative when there are less layering possibilities. I'm looking forward to it!

There's not really a rhyme or reason to today's post, I just wanted to share a few of my favorite things as of late! I didn't get my act together to share much holiday content so there are some items that may be a bit passed their prime, but they're on sale now so you could snag them and be ready for next holiday season😏 Let's get into it!

It's Christmas Time in the City

December 14, 2018

christmas-in-new-york
We were in New York last weekend to visit our new nephew and before we left I warned Mark that I planned to be very extra on this trip...enter my embellished beret. I've always wanted to go to New York at Christmas so I intended to live it up and wear all of my holiday outfits. The weekend was mostly spent hanging out with family and the new baby but we went out one day to snap these photos.

Hello!

I am beyond excited to introduce you to Catherine Day Dreams! If you've been following for a while you know this is my third blog iteration. It all started out with Friends Fun Fashion Food (cringe) back in 2012 when I started a blog for something unique to put on my resume. It didn't take long before blogging became a part of my life and something that genuinely brought me so much joy.

FFFF (lol) then evolved into My Inner Fabulous in 2013 and now here we are in 2018 with Catherine Day Dreams. It feels so high pressure to pick a blog name because you want it to be cute and memorable and also have a nod to your content and overall just be a name you're proud to have represent you.  I loved the idea of incorporating my real name into the new blog because I (hopefully) won't get sick of that!

As I mentioned in my final post on My Inner Fabulous I was feeling pretty lackluster about blogging and especially about the blog My Inner Fabulous. Moving back to Minnesota felt like the right time to let it go and start a new blogging chapter. Catherine Day Dreams is obviously a play on my name but it also speaks to what you can expect to see here: the things I daydream about. The content will be pretty much the same content you've been seeing for years: outfits, decor, travel, life updates, books I'm loving, etc. but I'm not going to force anything. I was burnt out on blogging not only because I was going through a big life transition but because it was feeling a little too forced. I missed blogging these last few months but I did not miss feeling the guilt if I didn't get a post up. My goal here with CDD is to share when I feel like sharing. Pretty straightforward, yes? I know that goes against all of the blogging conventional wisdom but I think that's going to make it much more enjoyable for me. So I can't promise posts MWF like I used to do but I can promise content I'm excited about and I hope you'll be excited about it too!

We have a lot to catch up on but I'll save that for another post. For now, thank you for stopping by and please enjoy this autumnal outfit! If you want to follow along with future posts please subscribe via the widget on the blog or you can like my new FB page

Candy Stripes

May 14, 2018

pink-and-white-striped-top
How cute is that little face? Louie was with us when we were taking photos yesterday so I pulled him in for a few snaps. I just got this top last week after ordering it nearly two months ago (hate when that happens) so unfortunately it's pretty much sold out but it's such a classic style and I've found a few similar options linked below. Recently I was feeling like I don't have any summery blouses so I'm happy this one fit because it's a nice linen material and the pink stripes are perfect for warm weather! It's the type that's extra long in the front so you can tie it but I tucked it in for this outfit. If I wore it with shorts I'd probably tie it for a cute summery look.

Wide-Legged Stripes

April 9, 2018

Hi friends, happy Monday! I had a wonderful weekend that was the perfect mix of rejuvenation and activity. On Friday we saw Ready Player One and as a non-gamer I really liked it. The plot was very interesting and I'd recommend! Saturday and Sunday were a mix of errands, walking the dog, relaxing and catching up with our shows. It's safe to say that I'm not ready for the weekend to be over, especially now that we're getting some nice spring-like weather!

Live Colorfully

March 12, 2018

loft-camellia-floral-dress
Spring sprung in California yesterday! It was a gorgeous 72 degrees and gave me all of the feels. In true spring fashion it's not here to stay and we're in for a dreary, rainy week but it was glorious while it lasted. I was so excited to pull out some new spring items, especially this dress. I love the pattern and it's a nice, light material. In fact, I loved the pattern so much I bought the top version as well! I'll probably shoot the top sometime in the next week or so.

Snowy Minnesota

March 2, 2018

faux-fur-hood-coat
As I mentioned on Wednesday we were home in Minnesota over the weekend and got a ton of snow. I've always loved the snow and because we don't live there anymore it's even more exciting! It makes for a pretty backdrop too ;)

Have a Wonderful Beret

February 12, 2018

pearl-beret
Happy Monday! I was pretty hesitant about the revival of the beret but after seeing some seriously chic ladies rock them this year I was convinced that I needed one. Enter this adorable pearl-embellished one. I just couldn't say no! Of course I had to pair it with a black turtleneck 😂 #sofrench I was pleasantly surprised with the quality when this one arrived. It's so warm! I'll definitely be bringing it home with me in two weeks.

Be Mine

January 29, 2018

catherine-day-valentine's-outfit
While Mark and I don't typically do much for Valentine's Day I still love it because pairing red and pink together is one of my favorite color combinations! I really wish I had a pink coat I could have thrown on to complete this look but pink sunglasses will just have to do. We won't be going out for Valentine's Day but I usually like to wear something festive to work, so this outfit will definitely be a contender! Do you dress up for Valentine's Day?

Casual Layered Outfit

January 15, 2018

casual-layered-outfit
Long weekends are the best, no? I'm headed up to San Francisco today to see a friend and that will be the most activity I've had all weekend lol. Well we went to see The Post on Friday (so good!) so that was an activity. The rest of the weekend was perfectly, luxuriously slow. We started and finished The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, lounged, slept in, ran some errands and walked the dog. Ah, it was glorious. So sad that it's the last long weekend until Memorial Day though. Ugh. Anyway, let's talk about this outfit. This is about as warm as I ever need to dress here in California so I try to make it interesting with several light layers. The boots and the purse are new and I'm pretty excited to have both of them as additions to my closet. I love that they're classic but with fun little details to make them special.

Sequined Plaid

December 18, 2017

festive-outfit-sequined-plaid
I went to a "Glitzmas" party last week and knew because of the name that I wanted to pull out all the stops. Red tartan pants? Yep. Pom pom shoes? You bet. Sequined top and earrings? Check and check. I had so much fun putting together this festive outfit and was happy I actually had somewhere to wear it! I think it was a nice balance of being dressy but the pants and flats keep it a little bit more casual.
