The Perfect Cardigan to Pair With Dresses

July 18, 2016

If you follow me on Snapchat (myinnerfabulous) then you already got a little peak of this cardigan, but I thought it was too good not to share here as well. For a long time I had lamented that cardigans ruined cute dresses. I always hated when I had to put a cardi over my dress because I was never able to find ones that were the right length. That is until I struck gold with this Halogen cardigan from Nordstrom. I've styled it with three different dresses below for the full effect :) you can see that it pairs well with fit and flares as well as sheath dresses and I think it would look amazing with bodycon dresses too. It's honestly the perfect third piece!

Look one Dress: J. Crew Factory (similar). Cardigan: Halogen. Belt: Target. Purse: Tory Burch (similar). Shoes: Target. Sunglasses: Illesteva

Look two Dress: Gap Factory (similar). Cardigan: Halogen. Purse: Old Navy (similar). Shoes: Dolce Vita (similar). Sunglasses: Illesteva

Look three Dress: H&M (similar). Cardigan: Halogen. Belt: ASOS. Purse: Phillip Lim for Target (similar). Shoes: Banana Republic (similar). Sunglasses: Ray-Ban. Necklace: Odette and Ophelia c/o.
This cardigan is lightweight, which is perfect for the summer, and it's longer than most of my dresses, which ends up looking best. This particular cardigan comes in a couple colors, but there's actually a super similar one that's part of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and that's cheaper! I bought it in blush :)

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty much spent playing volleyball, a nine hour tournament on Saturday to be exact, and then recovering from said volleyball.

Thanks for stopping by!

How to Wear Black During the Summer

July 13, 2016

If you're anything like me you reserve darker colors for the winter months. I honestly don't know why or where the association with certain seasons came from, but I want to try wearing more black during the summer. I don't have a huge amount of black in my wardrobe to begin with, but I feel like the chicest women are always donning black year round. So join me in my quest to be like them and wear black even during the summer! Here's how:

Opt for items that are made out of lighter materials like linen or denim. I think the easiest way to make black summery is via material. You wouldn't wear linen during the winter, so that alone makes it perfect for the hotter months!

Accessorize with black! Another great way to incorporate the darker hue is with summer accessories like a straw tote or strappy sandals.

Wear summery patterns in black. There are certain patterns like gingham or floral that are usually reserved for summertime, so that's another great way to look chic and summery all at once.

Don't wear all black. Yes, I agree that all black is no-fuss and pretty much always chic, but for summer I'd have to argue that you need at least one other color thrown into the mix. It doesn't have to be a vibrant hue, it could just be white, cognac, or even denim but all black is a little too heavy for summer. You'll thank me when you're in the sun!

Kimono is come from the Greek word himona

July 11, 2016

Palm print kimono: ASOS (similar from Boohoo). White lace shorts: Loft (similar from Macy's). White v-neck tank top: Topshop. Blue matte aviator sunglasses: Ray-Ban. Blue cross-body purse: Kate Spade. Gold and tan slide sandals: Loft (similar from Target). Tan Panama hat: Parc Boutique (similar from J. Crew).
Please tell me you know what I'm quoting in the title of this post😂one of my all-time favorite movies and it's what I think of every time I wear this kimono! This super casual outfit was perfect for a day of running errands, but it did make me want to lounge by the pool with a drink in my hand. That's pretty much what the weekend consisted of though: errands and lounging. Nothing out of the ordinary to report!

Hope you have a fabulous Monday and thanks so much for stopping by!

The 2016 Project Update Two

July 8, 2016

Well damn it's already Q3 folks! Time for round two of The 2016 Project updates on months April-June. It's actually insanity that we're halfway through the year, and that I've kept up with my resolutions for this long. I can tell you that's never happened. Pretty proud of myself actually, but I had a feeling that blogging about it would definitely hold me accountable.

April: go somewhere new. Okay, so I kind of failed at this one. But it wasn't a total fail. I never really went anywhere with the intention of it being counted as my April resolution, but I did go to new restaurants, parks and a new state. I think my original plan was to do something grander than those things, but there just wasn't enough time.

May: drink lemon water every morning. If you're interested in a full review of the lemon water thing you can read my post here. In short, I hated it, like irrationally so. I didn't really believe in it from the beginning so I don't think I ever expected it to stick, but now I can say I've tried it.

June: take a class. This was one of the ones I was most excited about and it did not disappoint. My friend Taryn and I took a croissant making class at Sur la Table and it was actually amazing. 1. It was really fun to learn how to bake something I would probably never otherwise make, and 2. We went home with a dozen delicious croissants. Probably the best I've ever had ;) this will definitely be something I want to do again. I really want to take a knife skills class because it's something I could definitely use some improvement on, but it wasn't as exciting as croissants. Hopefully soon!

You can keep up with all 2016 Project updates here if you'd like! If you've been following along since the beginning you may notice I made a few rearrangements, but nothing too drastic. Would love to know if you set a New Year's resolution and how it's going if you did!
