These are a few of my favorite things

November 4, 2016

You guys may notice that things look a little bit different around here today! There are still a few changes that I want to make as far as formatting and little details I want to fix. If you run into anything weird or have any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

I mostly just wanted to pop in today to acknowledge the new look and let you know it's not 100% done, but I thought I'd also share some of my favorite things as of late.

Shameless. Mark's sister had been telling us to watch this for months and when I went home last all of my friends were talking about it so I knew we had to finally check it out. We finished some other shows we'd been wanting to watch and so we gave it a shot. Needless to say we're hooked! If you haven't heard of it it's about a family of six kids who are basically raising themselves and have to do some incredibly shady, ridiculous, and shameless things to get by. It's so entertaining, albeit cringe-inducing at times!

All things plaid. I know this isn't exactly a novel idea for the holidays but I have about a hundred (okay I'm exaggerating) things in my cart at various stores right now that are getting me in the mood for the holidays. Namely this ruffled plaid button down, these plaid trousers, and the quintessential plaid holiday PJs!

Christmas! If you're rolling your eyes at me you can just keep scrolling haha. I haven't decorated or listened to music yet but I want to be ready right after Thanksgiving to put up decorations. So I've been doing some major online window shopping at my favorite home stores for the perfect holiday additions. I've linked some of my favs below :) Some years I just can't wait until Thanksgiving, like last year, but then I find that I'm kind of burnt out on holiday music and whatnot by the time Christmas actually rolls around. So I'm trying to hold out this year, which hopefully won't be too hard since Thanksgiving is pretty early. What do you guys think? Are you pro or against holiday things before Thanksgiving?

Presidential Podcast. You may remember after my trip to DC last month that I was feeling inspired to read and learn more about our country's history. I stumbled upon the Washington Post's podcast Presidential which highlighted a different president every week starting in January and just finished last week. It's been a really great way to learn about some presidents I've honestly never really heard about. The host can be kind of annoying (mostly the way she pronounces certain words) but she's entertaining and talks about everything in a casual, easy to understand way. Which I appreciate. I'm only at Millard Fillmore, so I'm still in the realm of the pretty unremarkable presidents, but I'm excited to start getting to some guys that I know a little bit more about. This may make me seem really lame, but I've been looking forward to my bus rides more and more because of this podcast! My sister is listening too, so we can compare notes.

Well, that's all I've got for you today! Hope you have a fabulous weekend! We really don't have much on the docket, which I'm thrilled about.
