Little Life Updates

September 11, 2017

Happy Monday! I was feeling in a chatty mood and it's been over a month since I checked in so I thought I'd whip up a little life updates post for today. Also, it was way too hot to shoot outfits this weekend so here there's that too😜. These posts don't feel the most exciting but it seems like you guys really like them and the whole point of the blog is to document my life, so here we go!

Wedding: As you can imagine we've got lots of wedding stuff going on because we're officially 6 weeks out and it's really starting to feel real! Now that it's September and we can say we're getting married next month it's really hitting me. I am beyond excited for the day but also know I'll be sad when it's over so I'm trying to enjoy the anticipation. We sent out invites a few weeks ago and now I giddily check the mail every day collecting responses. It feels like a lot of things are on hold until we have a final guest count. Once that happens we'll finalize all of the day of stationary like menus, place cards, programs, etc. We're still trying to decide on our first dance song. It has been quite the ordeal trying to make up our minds for some reason. I'm also having fun helping my bridesmaids pick out their accessories and decide on how to wear their hair. I can't wait to see how everything comes together! I think that's been the hardest part of planning for me is having to be able to image how everything from my outfit to the bridal party's outfits to the place settings will all come together. We've assembled a pretty great team of vendors though so I'm not too worried about it. I think I've mentioned this before but I have stress dreams about the wedding (I've always had them about various things) and the most recent ones have all been that I didn't like my hair or makeup. Obviously in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal, marrying Mark will be the highlight of the day, but apparently I'm really nervous I won't like the way I look! I'm thankful that I still don't feel like the wedding has taken over our lives, but ask me again in a few weeks ;)

Friends: I've been feeling so lucky lately to have the amazing women in my life that I do. It was especially exemplified after such a fun weekend with my girls in Napa. I still wouldn't say that I have as many friends here in California as I'd like but it was a good reminder that you don't need to live near someone to be close with them. Now I'm getting sappy, but it was just such a good weekend and I wish I could see all my girls more often. Can't wait to be surrounded by all of them in October!

Entertainment: It's funny that this gets its own category but it definitely is a large part of our lives. Yesterday I saw Home Again with a friend and it was just as lovely as you would imagine. The home was gorgeous and I wanted Reese's entire wardrobe, as per usual for a Nancy Meyers movie. What's funny now is that I know her movies so well that I can pick up on the little similarities from one movie to the next. We're still watching The Americans but took a little break to watch Friends from College and now Narcos season 3. I hadn't heard great things about Friends from College but we thought it was funny. We're only a few episodes into the new season of Narcos but it's good so far! Then on the reading front I've been kind of bad the last two weeks and have mostly been opting for podcasts during my commute but I'm still reading Snobs by Jullian Fellowes. It's enjoyable but taking a little bit to get into.

The season: I can't wait for fall! I know I've mentioned it here before but I get so giddy this time of year. And also annoyed when the weather doesn't cooperate with my fall wishes. Now that it's September I have stocked up on pumpkin flavored foods, bought three pumpkin scented candles and have been stalking Crate and Barrel's website for new fall inventory. It's safe to say I've gone a little fall-crazy. I'm so happy that we're getting married in the fall because it really, truly makes me so so happy. I also think that we timed it perfectly because as I mentioned before I will probably be sad when the wedding is over but we get home from our honeymoon the day before Halloween and then Thanksgiving is three weeks later. I will be very excited about the holidays so I think my post-wedding blues should be pretty minimal once the Thanksgiving hits.

Anywho, there's a little glimpse into life a la Catherine. Hope your week gets off to a great start and thanks for stopping by!

p.s. Louie is doing great and living his best life as per usual. I just found that photo of the two of us that I never shared and couldn't resist. He had his first pup cup at Dairy Queen yesterday and it was the cutest. I'm already dreading the two weeks that we'll be apart in October because I just love him so much😭
