We're back with round two of wedding photos! Today we have photos from the ceremony. In case you missed it, you can see the photos from the beginning of the day here.
When it came time to pick our wedding venue we thought we would most likely get married in a church but we weren't 100% set on it. I reached out to a couple of churches and was having trouble finding one because most require you to be a member for a year before the wedding and the church that I had been a member at didn't have our date available. We briefly considered having the ceremony at our reception venue but I didn't love the idea of having to shuffle everyone around to flip rooms and whatnot. The more we thought about it we realized that we'd pretty much only ever been to weddings in churches and couldn't picture what a ceremony would look like otherwise. Honestly, it felt like way too much freedom to have a non-church wedding! Sounds funny but having no structure and being able to do whatever we wanted sounded so stressful.
We ended up getting married at St. Olaf in Minneapolis, which is where my parents got married. I had originally thought St. Olaf wouldn't work out because we weren't members but it then turned out that we could bring in our own presider and use their space. So we had a deacon from the church I grew up going to perform our wedding. It turned out being really wonderful because it was close to the reception venue, made for some gorgeous photos and of course the fact that my parents got married there meant a lot.
Unfortunately, there aren't many good photos of me walking up or down the aisle. I was holding back tears both when coming into the church and when I was leaving so my face looks strained in a ton of the photos😂
I had asked our photographer if she could get some shots from the balcony and I'm so in love with them!
This installment of photos is short and sweet, just like our ceremony! It wasn't a full mass, so about 30 minutes long, and everyone commented on how nice it was that it was so short haha. Honestly, Mark and I both joke about it but we were so nervous that we kind of blacked out for the ceremony. That's the part of the day that was such a blur and I was overwhelmed and anxious standing in front of 200+ people so I don't remember a lot of it. Good thing we have videos to jog our memories ;)
Hope you have a fabulous Monday!
