I felt like I should title this post "The Sale that Shall not be Named." The Nordstrom Anniversary sale has become so divisive! You either love it or hate it. I totally get that it's overdone but my try on post from last year was one of my best performing posts so I figured you guys like it and that I should do it again. I will only mention it today and promise not to shove it down your throat afterwards. So if you're not interested, we'll see you next week!
Frst of all I have to mention that these photos are not my finest work, as mirror selfies typically aren't. I had to move our mirror into the living room to get the best light and hang it from the door leading to the deck #doitforthegram. So you can see our deck chairs and bikes in some of the photos :) Also, I know this seems like a ton of things to purchase but I never had any intention of keeping it all. I hate going to the store so I basically just buy it if I'm mildly interested in trying it on!
Okay, first up are these Halogen calf hair leopard mules. I AM SO SAD THESE DON'T FIT. This was literally the one thing I saw in the catalogue and was like 'yep, I need those.' It's that thing of where the 9.5 fits just so perfectly that it almost looks like my heel is hanging off. Then the size 10 has way too much room and they would definitely fly off my foot when I walk. Online it said they run small and to size up. I normally wear a 9 so I tried the next two sizes and am so sad that I'm just between them! Hopefully they work for you because they're so cute.
Halogen scalloped sweater. I actually bought this in two sizes and colors because I knew my regular size would be perfect for wearing under skirts and such (less material to tuck in). I don't like tight fitting things so I bought it in blush in a size up (L) to wear on its own. Then I bought the navy in my regular medium and it's more fitted so it will be great for pairing with skirts. I know I'm crazy, but whatever works man.
Speaking of scallops, next is this scalloped tank from Halogen. I can't decide whether to keep this. It's great as a "going out top" for the two times a year I need that😂 But really, it's a cute top and a good price. However, I want to try a size down (ordered a M) to see if it looks better a little shorter and to see if the neck lies better. There seems to be an excess of material around my neck.
I wear long cardigans like it's my job. Seriously at least once a week, soooo I bought three of them during this sale and was disappointed by all of them :( This first one is by BP. I had high hopes since it's such a good price, but the neckline just isn't right. I think it's meant to be kind of folded over but there's not enough material for it to stay that way. I did size down like they suggested and it fit correctly.
Next up is this long grey Halogen cashmere cardigan. Man, I really wanted to love this because who doesn't love cashmere and this looked like heaven in the form of a sweater. I'm going to see if I can find the next size down because it's too big (ordered the S/M). It's definitely way too expensive to keep if it's just okay. So I will be returning.
Last of the cardigans is this Halogen long cream cardigan. Again, this one is just a bit too big. It's so cozy though! I'm going to try and see if I can try on the next size down (I ordered a medium). I'll be returning this size.
I accidentally purchased this Halogen long grey vest because of all the glitching that was happening on Nordstrom's website on the first day of the sale. I knew I probably wouldn't like it but thought it might be worth showing here anyway. I love the idea of a long cozy vest as a great third piece but I'm not loving this one because of the small ribbing. It reminds me too much of the '90's😬 Will return.
My last purchase were these Hinge booties. I am so picky when it comes to booties for some reason and I was excited about these because of the slit on the side. I knew jeans wouldn't bunch up all weird, which happens with most booties. I ordered my regular size 9 and they're a little snug without socks. So I'm going to try and order a half size up if they restock them. Here's hoping because they're really cute!
