Fall Staples

If you haven't already noticed, I'm basic AF when it comes to fall. No shame. Give me all of the cozy sweaters, pumpkin flavored everything and "leaves" scented candles. I wanted to share my personal fall staples and round up some fun options you should have in your closet for the upcoming seasons.

Here we go!

Quality black and blue jeans: closet staples everyone should really have all year round but you'll be reaching for them more once you put your sundresses away! My favorites are the J. Crew toothpick jean and the AG Farrah

Camel coat: my J. Crew cocoon coat is still going strong after four seasons. It's so classic and thankfully they make a new version every year so I can replace it pretty easily once it's not looking so hot. I say a camel coat is necessary because they don't show lint! I love a good grey or black peacoat but we both know they start to look gross after a while because of all the lint and hair you can see.

Trench coat: a classic that everyone should have. What always happens to me is that I wear mine so much I end up hating it😂 I think maybe that means that I need to have at least two options to reach for so that I don't feel like I'm always wearing the same jacket.

Over the knee boots: this is one trend that has stood the test of time. I still haven't invested in a quality pair but I got good use out of my relatively inexpensive pair last winter. Might just have to upgrade! These instantly elevate any outfit and are great for wearing dresses and skirts into the cooler months.

Luxe flats: flats probably can't be worn outside in most parts of the country come November, but we're good up until then! The perfect way to make sure they're season appropriate is to buy them in darker colors or in richer materials like velvet, leather and faux fur.

Darker lipsticks: come September you'll find me in Revlon's ColorStay Ultimate suede in "Supermodel" 75% of the time. My two other favorite shades of theirs for fall are "Backstage" and "Fashionista."

Cozy cardigan: cardigans are where it's at. This one from last year is still my all-time favorite, mostly because it's kind of elasticy so it's held its shape and doesn't wrinkle. Anyway, you probably need at least 12 cozy cardis to get you through the next six months ;)

I didn't want this post to get too long but a few other items I'd recommend for a well-rounded fall wardrobe are a cognac purse, a chambray shirt, Hunter boots and some plaid tops :)

Hope you had a great weekend! I went to the beach on Saturday for a picnic with a friend (yay for checking things off of lists!). It started off sunny and was pretty gloomy when we left but I actually love that. It was the perfect setting to enjoy all of our bread and cheese :)
