My Favorite Podcasts

January 8, 2018

I could not remember what day of the week it was for pretty much all last week so I ended up never getting a post up! #oops. Happy 2018! Today I wanted to talk to you about something that I've recently gotten into: podcasts! Like everyone else in America I was introduced to podcasts by Serial in 2015. I pretty much listened to Serial and then forgot about podcasts until last year. Now I have found a handful that I always look forward to each week. I typically listen to podcasts on the commute to and from work or when I'm walking the dog. They're such a fun way to pass time and stay informed and entertained. Read on to see my faves!

1. By the Book. This one may be my favorite. Hosts Kristen and Jolenta read a new self help book and live by it for two weeks and then record their experiences and whether it changed their lives. They're both hilarious and a lot of times the books are pretty out there so it makes for entertaining podcasting.

2. Pod Save America. It's hosted by former Obama white house staffers who chat about what's going on in politics. They're hilarious and it sounds like it's just well-informed friends talking politics and you get to listen in. It's definitely biased but it's one of my absolute favorites. I pretty much love all of the podcasts that their company, Crooked Media, puts out.

3. When Meghan met Harry. This is a new one I'm excited about because obviously I can't wait for May and the next royal wedding. I found this podcast because one of the hosts also hosts By the Book. She cohosts with a Brit so it's fun to hear his take on things since he's local. The podcast will only be going up until the wedding but so far I'm really loving it and it's only 30 minutes so it's an easy listen.

4. Anna Faris is Unqualified. Basically Anna Faris hosts celebrities and they talk about their projects and play games. I don't listen to every episode but if her guest is someone I'm interested in I tune in. She's hilarious and it's interesting to hear an interview between two celebrities. She knows what to ask because she also works in showbiz.

5. Modern Love. If you're familiar with the NYT column this is pretty much famous people reading the Modern Love articles and then the host usually interviews the author or someone related afterwards. All of the stories are so interesting and well written. All of the feels.

What are your favorite podcasts? I want more recommendations!

Hope you have a wonderful second week of the year!
